SAND & SHELL HEARTS

These little gems were so easy to make.

I used a silicone heart shaped mould (normally used for baking) and filled it with some mixed Rhinolite. Then swirled around on the top with a spoon.

When it was very set and dry I sealed the heart and then stuck on some shells.

BEAD & WIRE DRAGONFLY

1)               Cut about 60 cm of medium core wire.

2)               Bend wire in half
3)               Thread 8 – 10 medium size beads on to the double wire and draw down towards base. As you push the beads down the tail will form. Do not go right to the end but leave some for the dragonfly tail.

 4)               Thread 13 – 21 (depending on size) on to one arm of the wire. If you are using seed beads you will need about 21.

 5)               Turn wire with beads on around into a circle and twist around the main post.

6)               Repeat step 4 and 5 on the other piece of wire forming the second smaller wing.

7)               Thread 22 – 38 (depending on size) on to one arm of the wire. If you are using seed beads you will need about 38.
8)               Turn wire with beads on around into a circle and twist around the main post to form the first larger wing
9)               Repeat step 7 and 8 on the other piece of wire forming the second larger wing.
10)           Thread 2 – 3 more of the main body beads onto the double wire forming the dragonfly head.

11)           Attach a bright bead at the end of the wire on both side to finish the dragonfly

You can then either attach to some fishing line to make a mobile or onto a lanyard and hand in the car.

MESSAGES WITH LOVE

Gather everything you need:
MDF Blank heart, fairly large
Bond Seal to seal blank before you start
Mat Sealer
Paint  - fairly dark colours so that the chalk stands out when you write on the board
Brush
Sandpaper - fine
Chalk
String
Something to write with on the board such as a paint pen
Water in container to wash brushes

Sand the edges of the blank, they are often quite rough
Cover with Bond Sealer and allow to dry
Cover with 2 coats of paint
Paint with one coat of mat sealer
Write your words on with the paint pen
When completely dry cover with a finishing coat of mat sealer.

Attach the string and tie the chalk to it so that it is always there.

You will find this works just like a black board and you can write lists and messages

To clean wipe with a damp cloth

ROSE QUARTZ STONE - DECOUPAGED WITH ANIMALS

You will need:
A supply of Rose Quartz Stone
(Garden Nurseries and Builders Merchants sell in bags). You can also try the stone company’s
Pick out the pieces large enough and suitable
Podge or white cold glue
Finishing mat sealer
Brush
Serviettes from which you tear the require pictures
Container of water to wash brush

Tear out your pictures and try placing them on the stones. You will need to juggle around to find the right size stones. When you have matched the size of the picture to the size of the stone you remove the picture and put to one side.
Cover the stone with podge or glue on the side you want (or both sides)
Place the picture on the stone and cover with podge, moving the brush from the center outwards removing any air or bubbles of podge
Allow to dry
Add 2 more coats of podge and allow to dry
Cover with one coat of mat sealer

Hey presto you have some lovely paperweights!

PAPER WEIGHTS

Paper Weights from Stones

List

Stones either smooth garden or from the garden nursery or hardware store. If you really want to splash out you could buy some gem stones but they must be large enough.
Sealer + brush
Craft Podge + brush
Serviettes with small pattern / pictures
Varnish or sealer + brush
Apron
Clear clean working space.

Remember stones are living so you should put one coat of sealer on to start. Allow to dry.
Carefully take the backing off the serviette. They are often in 2 layers and sometime 3 layers. You only need the top layer and it is easy to tear by mistake.
Carefully tear around the pictures. If little ones are decorating the stones I would recommend you tearing all the pieces first.

Spread a little podge on the stone to cover the top side and carefully place the torn picture onto the stone.
Put more podge on the brush and gently, from the middle podge the picture onto the stone.
Allow to dry.
Put at least 2 more coats of podge on the stone allowing each coat to dry.
Finally seal the paper weight.

You may if you wish put a little cork or similar underneath so that furniture does not get scratched.

CAT FINGER PUPPET

Every one favorite and can be made in so many different colors.

COW FINGER PUPPET

Lots of play fun here with this little cow. Why not make a complete farmyard!

ANIMAL HAND PUPPETS

Great fun for kids on rainy days ... you can glue or sew the pieces in place. Even if the main part is sewn its easier just to glue the extra bits, eyes and nose etc. in place.

Cut a pattern out from newspaper or a brown bag.

The template for the main part of the Hand Puppet is always the same and you just add the animal characteristics.

Don't forget to cut some extra for whiskers or use some stiff string.
